Vulan Goddess Vacharii da'Orliia

Publicly the Goddess Vacharii appears to be spoiled, dim-witted, and vain. Outside of the public eye Vacharii is extremely observant and subtly manipulates the Taipii world in ways she believes to be better for them.

To keep her reputation in Ariiel positive, Vacharii occasionally makes a public display of doing some small noble deed. While Ariiel has taken to celebrating her as one of their own, outside of Ariiel she is regarded to have little utility to society beyond organizing parades and modeling fashion designs.

Positive Traits: Intelligent, Observant, Analytical (especially of other people), Strong Memory for Details, Willing to perform tedious tasks and get her hands dirty in acting out her characters
Negative Traits: Manipulative, Sarcastic, Dislikes the Outdoors and Tasiiama’s culture
Physical Description:Female Vulan (fox-like). Orange fur with light tan highlights and brown low-lights. Classic “red fox” patterning. Aqua colored eyes.
Clothing: As a goddess, Vacharii is fashionable, colorful, exquisite, and sometimes a bit ridiculous. She has teams of aspiring fashion designers and clothiers who are eager for her to publicly wear one of their designs, which she frequently does. She also acts out a variety of ‘characters’ that dress a variety of ways when she is incognito.
Arms: Visually unarmed, Vacharii is willing to use magic in dangerous ways. For the sake of versatility and authenticity in developing her ‘characters’ Vacharii has in secret practiced several weapon techniques - enough such that she can appear competent without raising suspicion by being clearly unqualified nor overly accomplished.

Role in the Orliian Tribes

Among the Nomadic Taipii Tribes on Orliia Vacharii was a basket weaver. The basket weavers generally included everyone who didn’t show any noteworthy talent in the skills the Nomadic Taipii required to survive, and involved doing repetitive tasks and labors that didn’t require much skill. While Vacharii’s was demonstrably intelligent and observant, the Nomadic Taipii did not have a role that adequately suited her. In her low position Vacharii was taught to keep her thoughts to herself, and quietly began to study and eventually manipulate those around her.

From a young age Vacharii began developing a sense for what people felt and what was motivating them - likely a subconscious detection of  Miiraun Signatures. She developed several 'simulations' in her head of people and tribe members around her, and would at times inconvenience them in some way to see if her predicted reactions held.

Her instructor grimaced at the tea but continued drinking it, eliciting a small grin from Vacharii. She had been very careful this time. It was just bitter enough to be noticed, but not bitter enough to be poured out. This wasn't petty passive aggressiveness, this was a successful result to her experiment. She realized she would need a new subject to try the tea on - it is possible over the past few months of occasional bitter tea that her instructor had become less sensitive.

After living to observe several generations of Taipii, Vacharii became very good at manipulating them.

Motivations

Vacharii is deeply concerned with positioning herself and Kutaun for maximum effectiveness. She manipulates the public’s opinion toward herself and Kutaun such that the expectations on them is low and they can pursue their goals with minimal interest or scrutiny from the public and other gods.

In her heart Vacharii believes she pursues the same thing for the Taipii as do the other gods - that they face the challenges presented to them by the broken world of Forra and do well. Vacharii believes that the best way for her to do that (and by extension Kutaun) is to use every talent they have for maximum effect. For Vacharii that just happens to mean making effective use of unethical practices such as deception and manipulation toward a positive end.

Reputation among the Gods

Vacharii is not well regarded by most of the other Taipii gods and goddesses. Rakadynn is willing to give Vacharii some benefit of the doubt, while Fausaila is very vocal in her criticisms against Vacharii's behavior.

Vacharii responded to Fausaila’s approach exactly as expected – slowly lowering her book and turning from her reclined position. She lifted an ornate silver plate of grapes and offered them to the Kisan with big, decorated eyes. “Peace, goddess. Would you care for something to eat?”

Fausaila sneered as she batted the plate from her hand, sending plate and grapes flying.

“Lusty fool of a femii! I’m not here for grapes or your fluttering eyelashes, Vacharii. You know why I am here. Where is Kutaun?”

The only positive relationships Vacharii has with the other gods are with Kutaun and Machiiara.

Kutaun and Vacharii play an ancient board game that is permanently set up for them on a table in the hall of The Crystal Palace. The game plays endlessly, and tends to mimic the real-world relationship between the two of them as they pursue their individual goals.

The Crystal Palace

Both Vacharii and Kutaun have quarters in The Crystal Palace in Ariiel. The Crystal Palace is a significant achievement for the Vulan gods, it represents the single largest trade agreement between the Taipii and another race, The Reisuii. The defining feature of the palace, the glass, was manufactured by a Reisuii corporation in exchange for Vacharii's endorsing and allowing them to use her name and image as branding for their products.

Vacharii Brand

The Vacharii brand is wildly successful among the Reisuii. While Vacharii brand clothing designs are not designed by Vacharii herself, they do include authentic designs created by her tailors. In addition to clothing, a wide variety of food, grooming, and novelty products are sold under the Vacharii brand.

Alternate Identities

Unbeknownst to the other Taipii gods, Vacharii is keenly interested in studying ancient uses of magic. While she does not possess Machiiara's intuition for magic, Vacharii was able to master one of the most difficult feats of  Dream - and can project a different appearance around herself that is entirely convincing to all but some observant to Dream.

This ability allows Vacharii to walk incognito among the Taipii as one of several characters she has developed. Vacharii will often train herself in mundane tasks such as fishing, gathering, or even small arms to pass convincingly as an average Taipii. These incognito ventures into the population allow her to get a sense of what is really happening among the Taipii, and manipulate people without anyone suspecting the goddess herself.

With the exception of The Fence none of these identities are generally known to the other Taipii gods and goddesses or the general public to be associated with Vacharii.

Peil

Peil is a humble cleaner and inn greater that has worked at a number of small inns and taverns across Antilia - and under a variety of names. Peil is an identity Vacharii uses to interact with ordinary Taipii and occasionally to follow or spy on someone of interest.

“Thank you, my Lady. I’ll see to it at once,” Peil responded with a quick curtsy. Peil scurried to the back to fetch the bucket and sponge, and filling the bucket part way with a jug of gray water.

Relationship with the Thieves Guild of Ariiel

The manner in which the Thieves Guild is allowed to operate from Ariiel without the Vulan gods imprisoning them has led to many rumors that the Vulan gods are in some way involved with the Taipii underground.

Vacharii's public response to the Thieves guild has been to express helplessness and defer the situation to her counterpart Vulan God Kutaun da'Orliia.
