Naumayus is motivated similarly to Rakadynn, in which he wishes to ensure the well-being of the Taipii. Where he differs is in his approach. Naumayus believes the Taipii are better served by being encouraged to determine and pursue for themselves their well-being without being subjected by the gods. His perspective is that of a peer and member of the community rather than that of a leader or caretaker. He remains on the Taipii Council to ensure the Taipii have the high-level tools they need, but prefers to sit back and observe most of the Council’s proceedings rather than to direct or lead.

Naumayus is a big, loving, trusting puppy without a hateful bone in his body. The political split between the Kisan and Lupan leaves him distressed. He firmly believes that his approach will be for the best in the long term, but also has respect for Rakadynn’s wisdom and history. Rakadynn’s perspective on what Naumayus is doing is that “rule by committee” will divide the Taipii and leave them unable to respond decisively. Rakadynn has seen how miserable a bad leader can make a tribe, and can say with complete truth and without arrogance that he is a good leader.
