2. Peripheral Interfaces

The peripheral interfaces include Antilia's main and pause menus, and a variety of audio, video, and input settings.

Start a New Game

From this interface the player can create and configure a new "save game" or simulation instance. Each save game will have a name, thumbnail image, an optional description, and a variety of settings.

New Game Settings

A variety of options are available when starting a new game, and to make it easier to reproduce these settings the "Start New Game" window will include the option to importexport these settings. The game will include a few default configurations, and occasional "challenge" scenarios might be made available via AntiliaLink.

Options for new games include:

  • Random Seed - The random seed is used for procedural generation of NPCs, buildings, creatures, and various other elements of the world. The overall map and points of interest will remain the same across multiple sessions.
  • Time and Weather - A few options will be presented allowing the player to control the length of days and weather cycles.
  • Resource Abundance - The player can control how "rich" resources are on Antilia, which will affect the economy and difficulty for both player and non-player characters alike.
  • Character Limits - Limits can be placed on how many characters an individual player can control. This is mostly relevant to multiplayer servers, but also affects single player games.
Note:The relative difficulty of Antilia is also dependent on the "difficulty" setting of the characters the player chooses to create and play as.
Content Packs

When creating a new game the player can select to include additional "content packs" (full game only, this feature will be excluded from the Antilia Demo). The "core" Antilia content pack will always be included by default.

Load a Single-player Game

This window presents a list of local saved games (simulation instances) which the player can load and join.

Note: Unlike some other games, the player cannot directly "save" the game and return to that point. The Simulation Engine continually saving changes to the world as they occur.

Join a Multiplayer Game

An option to join a multiplayer game will appear on the main menu (full game only, this feature will be excluded from the Antilia Demo). This window will present a list of multiplayer servers the player has been invited to. An option will exist to manually add a game server via an invite code.

Application Settings

These settings will include video and detail options, audio and volume controls, as well as input settings and key bindings.

About

The about window displays news, Antilia's contributors and credits, and Patreon supporters.
