Standardizing Combat Hotbars

Jen: 39
I've played a lot of this game and used basically every combat style. While doing that, I created a simple and effective way to use the hotbar to get the most out of combat, especially in groups.

Here, I use the colors of lanterns symbolically so that other players can easily see which role I will be playing in a group. When I have a green lantern out, I'm ready to cast my healing spells. Red means I cast fire, and I chose white arbitrarily for melee. Players in a group will know where to go depending on the situation.

On every row, there is no reason not to have Scratch. Since you are effectively unarmed while you are using magic (for now), having an extra available attack can only help. With melee, there is easily enough time between the cooldowns of your three abilities to use Scratch to maximize your damage-per-second. It also lets you gain experience in a skill that you can use in multiple combat styles.

Depending on how long I plan to be in a fighting situation, I may use more than one row food. The type and quantity is up to the individual since the situations vary.

Sorta using the same method, but between sword combat, fishing, mining, and magic (fire and life).

I do have many colors of lanterns... think I'll mix in your method too on that in combat, and magic.

Had a similar method going for my swords styles, though I hadn't thought to use the colored lanterns as an easy marker for which magic I was using :O

Definitely makes things interesting for team combat - i.e. against the iichii king

if i'm not killing off all the local wild life(because quests are boring) i'm exploring the world. i like to see all the stuff the art team has made.

Defence isn't out yet, but there's hosts of other colors. Water/ice in several games represent a defensive style, so perhaps blue would be fitting.
