What Anime are You Watching?

Jen: 38
Sorry to be exclusive, but I'm an avid fan of anime, so I always feel the need to know what the taste is of others; what they enjoy watching.

Anyway, this thread is exactly what the title is! Please, let us know what you are watching, maybe even share a trailer and some information about it in case others have not seen or heard of it.

And to make sure we are all on the same page:

I will go first.

Right now I am actually in the middle of two anime series:

1. Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) - Based around 100 years after an attack of giants called "Titans" wipe out most of humanity until they build walls to protect the last bastion of humans. The story centers around Eren Jaeger, who wants to one day join the reconnaissance group that explores the outside world. My gf and both highly recommend this series. Watch it on Crunchyroll!

2. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - It revolves around Lelouch, a student endowed with intelligence and a strange power. He works on starting a rebellion by cunning, really cool mecha, and, of course, his power, the mysterious "Geass." I recently started watching this one, and if I may say honestly, I was expecting to be more impressed but it is good nonetheless. Definitely worth watching.

Your turn!

Im too much of a mainstream anime watcher..

Im a BIG fan of Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden anime series, as well as its original manga version (favorite character: Kurama - the nine-tailed demon fox).

Then I watched Bleach too, and now I read the manga,

and I tried to watch Full Metal Alchemist for a time.

Plus in the past I watched Monster Rancher, and a few episodes of Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh.

I dont know if I can count Hellsing as an anime, prolly yes..

I have discovered Anime On Demand and on it I've found an interesting one called Another. It's like a horror mystery anime which I seem to really be into. I'm not very good at following plots, but there's a cursed junior high class and one student dies a month and one of the students is actually dead but the dead kid doesn't know they're dead and they haven't said this but I think if they manage to kill the dead kid then the curse stops. So, yeah, it's interesting. Lots of blood. Like a Kill Bill amount of blood.

A couple other animes I haven't finished yet are Higurashi and Eyeshield 21. Higurashi is another horror mystery where these kids keep going crazy and killing each other and there's a sci-fi element to it because time keeps resetting. There's not a lot I can say about it without spoiling a few things.

Eyeshield 21 is about a high school (American) football team in Japan. It's really funny because at the beginning most of the players don't even know the rules to football. My favorite part is when they have an actual American team because I think American stereotypes in animes are freaking hilarious.

Right now, I'm watching "Hayate the Combat Butler" (NSFW for fan-service shots)
-It's something of a silly stereotypical self-aware anime with constant references to other anime, and silly things like the narrator's subtitles outright saying "Our protagonist is a dumb guy. Sorry."
-I think it was tougher for me to get into as it's crammed with awkward "fan service" shots, and the script is complex enough I often have to pause to keep up with the subtitles. However, I've enjoyed it and the the different character's pursuit of happiness overall.

The PREVIOUS anime series I watched was "My Ordinary Life" (Generally pretty clean besides MANGA)
-A random slice-of-life anime following the lives of some school children, broken down into smaller skits/stories. While that seemed to give it a rough time of providing a cohesive story, it had plenty of room for character development and entertainment. -The animators definitely seemed to revel in their work, often providing over-the-top definition to scenes, often using stereotypical anime sub-plots to set those moments up.
-After a certain number of episodes, the ending-credits each had a unique piece of Japanese choral music, and it was quite nice to enjoy.
-The most difficult part I had about getting into the series was getting past some stereotypical/impossible characters, and making sense of foreign cultural items and references. Not too tough.

"My Ordinary Life" definitely has some powerful, touching moments. Here's one of my favorites.
SKIP TO 5:25, the show's opening technically contains spoilers. LEGIT LINK:

But yea, I'd agree on watching some shows via Crunchyroll. While it does not seem it was PREVIOUSLY legit, it seems to aim to be hardcore-legit ever since it started making formal business agreements. Even as someone incredibly paranoid about legality, I've felt comfortable there.

"Attack on Titan" is one of the three animes I'm considering watching next, at least to see what the hype is about, or make more sense of some of the "Attack on Gaben" spoofs I've been seeing.

Edit: Past, present and future tense be darned. I have no idea how to fix that!

Got an app on my phone that i watch anime on, its called "SAnime". Great to have with you when you are bored, just pop it up and be entertained. Also great to have when going to sleep...or maybe not, happens that i stay up to 3-4, watching anime. :D

Right now i am watching One Peice, on ep 305..i think. And i guess you all know what happens in it :D

Otherwise i watch i guess everything. Lucky Star, Toradora, Baka to test to shoukanjuu, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, The melancholy of Haruhi Suzymiya, Hellsing and other animes like these ones. If they are either funny, action-packed, or just interesting, ill probably watch them.

Planning on watching Dragonball z, Naruto and other popular animes later.

I just finished watching Ergo Proxy. It's amazing, you need to watch it. You can watch it on Funimation for free (they're the ones that published it or something like that).

It's really good.

Currently watching "Chi's Sweet Home - Chi's New Address". Some kind of simplistic slice-of-life show about a kitten, drawn/written to be adorable. While I have mixed feelings, it has it's moments:

Waiting for the last episode of DanganRonpa: The Animation, based off the game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.

Extremely dark combination horror/suspense/murder mystery as high school students are trapped within Hope Academy for life - the only way out is to kill another student, and make it through the following "Classroom Trial". If the culprit is correctly identified during the trial, they are executed; however, if the students pick the wrong person, all the innocent players are executed instead, and the guilty player goes free.

Also just finished up the first season of Higurashi, about to start season 2.

I started watching this because I remember how much I enjoyed Tenchi Muyo when it was on cartoon network.

Then I quickly realized the show is for 13 year old teenage boys...

And then I found Squidgirl

I've officially been squidified.

I thought it was good (Watched up to episode 8), but it was just too violent and gory for me.

I've been enjoying the silliness of 'Ah! My goddess' lately. :)

I watched an episode of 'Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet' recently at a friends anime club, which I found interesting; but I've yet to watch the series.
