Weekly Update - Teleporting, Floating Islands

With the video update having stalled, here are a few things I've been working on in the meantime and an update on what I'll be working on next.

Over the weekend I posted a message to our Discord server that the video update hasn't worked out as I had hoped. This isn't the first time this has happened, a few times previously while working on a video I have realized part way through that it's just not turning out very interesting.

Originally I had planned for multiplayer and testing to be the "star feature" of this update, but in practice there wasn't as much to show on that topic as I had imagined. The video ended up with too much technical talk while a few characters ran around on the screen. A lot of the things I included in the outline weren't very easy to include a visual for. I may give the video another look in a few weeks, but I don't want Antilia development to stall while I stare in frustration at my video editing suite.

In the meantime, here are a few things that I've been working on in the background:

Takadynn Teleportation System

Up to this point moving around the Isle of Kasau has been limited to running with a character, which isn't ideal when testing. A tester on one side of the island might report a bug which I want to take a look at, but then getting to them can require 5-10 minutes of running.

To alleviate some of the tedium I've added a basic teleporting option via the in-game takadynns. Simply approach and click on a Takadynn and it'll display a list of destinations available from it. Each individual takadynn is assigned to a network, and the system allows multiple networks to be set up. Later on I may add some restrictions to this system, such as needing to find and activate some takadynns before they can be teleported to or paying a few pearls to teleport.

Clicking on a Takadynn now displays a window to select a destination to teleport to.

World Building

A pair of floating islands have been added to the Isle of Kasau. For now each of them has a pair of takadynns set up in a network to allow access up to the floating island. I plan to add a Sakii garden to at least one of them.

Two new floating islands have been added to the Isle of Kasau, with a couple more still planned!

Up Next

This week I'll be starting work on the combat system. Hostile creatures and combat will introduce some badly needed challenge when exploring the Isle of Kasau, so stay tuned for those updates.

But that's all for this week, thanks for reading!
