Project Update for October 2014

Hi everyone,

I realize the website is over-due for an update, and in absence of a proper blog post I would at least like to communicate the state of the project. I'll be writing a proper blog post as soon as I have some new content to share.

First let me get the bad news out of the way - for the past couple months I've simply had too many things going on to give Antilia the attention it needs to move forward. Sometimes life gets busy, and to summarize August through September - life just got busy.

The good news is things have now settled down, and I've been able to reduce my work hours back down again. This was my first week to enjoy the more relaxed schedule, and I immediately started work on Antilia again. Although I didn't find much time for programming the past couple months, the larger development team was able to keep regularly scheduled meetings for writing and brainstorming. We've discussed a wide variety of topics, specifically focusing on the history and culture affecting Lantros.

As I've mentioned in the community chat, the next step for Antilia will be an offline sandbox mode. This decision was made on a variety of factors, primarily that it'll make content creation a lot easier if developers if they can immediately test their creations in-game without me creating a test build and uploading media to the server. It'll also let us ease into testing again, and give new community members a way to experience Antilia immediately without waiting for the next server test.

In the meantime, there has been an interesting community discussion taking place regarding the Currency and the Economy. Keep the suggestions coming!

Oh good, I don't need to call in my assistant then to help tune down Jeff's busy work schedule.

In all seriousness though, it's great to hear you have time again to work on Antilia. ^_^ Pretty eager for this offline mode so I can finally show friends on steam this game more and what is possible to do.

...so I don't need to hit anyone with this right?

The offline mode sounds amazing! Kasau will be a much more fun when I play my beautiful flute to a captive audience.

It will rain pearls. ((sigh))

I'll confess, as a programmer, I am skewed toward seeing progress as new version releases. However - while I've been frustrated by my preoccupations, thanks to the writing and design teams, Antilia is getting better by the day.

plzno

I cant wait for the sandbox mode. I've missed the world you guys have crafted, and I have some people I'd like to show it off too. hopefully that generates a bit more traffic in the community too.

Also, holy shizbiscuit, I had no idea the currency and economy topic was going that well in your eyes, Jeff. I can by no means take credit for it, only starting it. I'll try to keep the topics coming, and get people thinking and sharing more, especially if it helps that much!

Also a great time to do those topics before... THEM arrive and make it hard to get any points across.

Oh come now, most everyone was one of THEM at one point or another.

I'm very excited for an offline mode! I've never been able to access my
computer when an event was held, so I'm looking forward to exploring
the island for myself!

Very glad you've gotten the workload down Jeff, I'm fantasizing about the
great new things you and the team will be building. Ooh, a Lesser Flying Buffalo-pear!

Leave it to Sly to turn everything into an issue with THEM!
