If you're wondering why things have been a bit quiet - we've got some big changes in store for Antilia this year. As much as we want to always keep the community up-to-date on what we're working on, the past few weeks have been a perpetual case of "with just a few more days of development this will be really cool!"
After the April Fools event we returned our attention to Toi for a few weeks, but for this post I'd like to focus on what we worked on primarily in May - buildings. In late April I determined that the one thing that was really preventing us from moving players on to the Antilia Mainland was the lack buildings for the cities - we're now set to resolve that soon.
Rather than try to describe the system, I've recorded a video in which I use the new editor to create a building in the game:
I honestly believe that the addition of player-owned properties will radically improve Antilia. With a few additional performance and gameplay improvements, Antilia will finally deserve a 24/7 server.
I'd love to hear everyone's comments and questions, so please post them in response to this thread! To answer those questions and well as to demonstrate additional features of the building system, we will be hosting a live stream event next week on Tuesday, June 10th at 7PM Mountain Time. (If you can't attend, there will of course also be a recording.)
You'd think the construction crew would've questioned about the no entry way to the room.
I love it! :D I wanted to make some sort of preview of a house I wanted to make in minecraft, however the programs for that aren't suitable or just don't work me. For Antilia this will work well, that way I won't waste material and time trying to make it just right for me.
I do like the style currently on the buildings.

Sly da' Talikus aka LongSly
I will mallet all who question me! O.O
Words cannot describe how happy it makes me to see this. I'm really excited to see what people can make with this, because you know what? Give people the tools and they can do some really awsome things.
I can't wait. I can't. I want to make tons of places that would just be downright fun for people to hang out in. I can't say how excited I am.
Just... Just... Yes.

I'm not particularly great at anything, but I'm definitely adequate at everything.
I like that. I can do anything I want.
The building editor looks very nice so far, I'm excited to see more architectural styles and design choices later on down the line.
I can definitely see myself sinking a lot of time into making the "perfect" house.

Alpha Characters: Chigiri da'Chalei, Rosa da'Alenfay, Liipoi da'Lantros
Looks awesome, especially when you can actually enter building to see the interiors for yourself. Only thing Im not sure about is the scale. Looks far too big (namely high) for the Taipii. They are only half the height of one floor (although what am I saying.. I work in a hotel whose levels are just as high..).

Live well, die well.
In-game: Lokosicek da'Alenfay: Professional hoarder and explorer.
Have a 'tour' button that lets you walk around and in the building you're building, without dedicating the resources to it.
Would hate to build something nice, place it down and then notice a couple of glaring mistakes *cough window as doors cough*
only to have to spend more materials to fix it again.
Otherwise I'm loving the idea.
Alternative is to instead of instantly build the building, place a blueprint that you then have to get materials to and build wall by wall.
Meaning the more people you have helping you, the faster you can build a larger house... as well as that you can fix mistakes you find while building.
"Wooden floor? I wanted marble!"

Heart of Fire, Soul of Ice
Body of Flesh, Mind: Unbound.
There are two things I would really like to see implemented into this system ((based so far from what I saw during the video in this blog)). The first is placeable lighting, such as lamps or ceiling fixtures. Windows can certainly help with lighting rooms up, but if you wanted to have the option of a windowless room, it would be very dark without them... ((Also, it would be nice to have different colored choices in lighting as well. ^_^))
The second thing I would like to see is see-through windows. For example, if you're standing inside the building and you look through a window that faces outside, it would be nice to... well, see the outside. I'm not sure if this is going to be even possible based on how the system works right now, but it would a nice addition if it's possible.
